Diversity Initiatives Committee Chair • American Choral Directors Association (National)
- Serves as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engages in identifying areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion in which the organization can continue to grow to more fully meet the needs of members.
- Advises the ACDA Executive Director and Executive Committee on policies, practices, and procedures using a lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, and restorative justice.
- Convenes meetings of the National Diversity Initiatives Committee to set a national agenda to move the national organization and state chapters forward in meeting their DEI goals and objectives.
- Evaluates, reviews, and recommends scholarly articles relating to ADEI topics submitted to the Choral Journal’s editorial board for publication.
- Provides professional development opportunities for conductors, educators, and pre-service educators to increase their understanding of and responsibility for implementing ADEI best practices.

- Serves as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engages in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for DAA to advance its mission.
- Takes part in advocacy on the local, state, and federal levels, including giving testimony to legislative and decision-making bodies, meeting with elected officials, meeting with executive branch employees, and organizing community advocacy efforts.
- Approves annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions while being informed of and meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Ensures DAA’s ongoing commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities it serves and the arts sector.
- Reviews outcomes and metrics to evaluate DAA’s impact and regularly measure its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meeting
